国連スピーチ内容

本校生徒2名が今回の派遣で魂を込めて伝えたスピーチの内容です。
二人は一度も原稿を見ることなく、聴衆の目を見て被爆者の思いを全身全霊で英
語で伝えました。


国連スピーチ　　テーマ「We Will NEVER GIVE UP」

みなさんこんにちは。私たちは、広島県福山市にある、盈進高等学校からきまし
た。高校2年の池田和音と、同じく１年の松葉悠乃です。私たち盈進は、「平和・ひ
と・環境を大切にする」教育を展開しています。
Hello everyone. We are from Eishin High School in Fukuyama City,
Hiroshima Prefecture.
I'm Kazune Ikeda, and I'm Haruno Matsuba.
Our school promotes an education that "values peace, people, and the
environment".

私たちは、ヒューマンライツ部に所属しています。
ヒューマンライツ部は、平和と人権の環を地域や国際社会に広げるために貢献し
ています。
We belong to the Human Rights Club and contribute to expand the circle
of peace and human rights in local and international communities.

その活動のひとつ、「核廃絶ヒロシマ中高生による署名キャンペーン」。
この活動は、中高生にもできる持続可能な平和活動として始まり今年で16年目を
迎えます。
One of these activities is the "Signature Campaign by Junior and Senior
High School Students, a petition for Nuclear Abolition.
It began as a sustainable peace activity that the students could do, and
is now in its 16th year.

今から78年前の1945年8月6日。午前8時15分。一発の原子爆弾が広島に落とされ
ました。爆心地周辺の地表温度は約4000度。人々は全身が燃やされ、その年に約
14万人が命を奪われたのです。
It was August 6, 1945, 78 years ago. At 8:15 am. A single atomic bomb
was dropped on Hiroshima. The temperature on the ground surface around
the hypocenter was about 4,000 degrees Celsius. People were burned to
death, and about 140,000 people lost their lives that year.

「核廃絶は被爆者の苦しみが原点」
被爆者で、世界の核廃絶をリードしてきた故・森瀧市郎さんの信念です。
私たちの活動の原点でもあります。森瀧市郎さんは、原爆で命を奪われた人々の
存在を胸に、原爆慰霊碑の前で座り込みを続け、核実験に抗議し続けました。
"Nuclear abolition starts from the suffering of Hibakusha."
This is the belief of the late Mr. Ichiro Moritaki, an A-bomb survivor
who has led the world's efforts for nuclear abolition.
It is also the starting point of our activities.
He continued to sit in front of the cenotaph for the A-bomb victims and
protested against nuclear tests.

「Never give up」。
被爆者の坪井直さんが必ずおっしゃっていた言葉。
彼こそ、森瀧市郎さんの信念を受け継いでいた人でした。
"Never give up."
The Hibakusha, Mr. Sunao Tsuboi, used to say it.
He was the one who inherited Mr. Moritaki Ichiro's cause.

核廃絶を願う人なら彼を知らない人はいないはずです。
爆心地から1.2キロメートル地点で被爆。
20分ほど背中が燃えた状態で逃げ惑いました。背中からお尻にかけて火傷の痕、
ケロイドが残りました。
Mr. Sunao Tsuboi
He was exposed to the bomb 1.2 kilometers from the epicenter, and spent
about 20 minutes running away with his back on fire. Burn scars and
keloids remained all over his back .

坪井さんは、2016年オバマ元米大統領と最初に握手した被爆者でした。2021年10
月24日、坪井直さんは96歳の生涯に幕を閉じられました。
He was the first Atomic bomb survivor to shake hands with Mr. Barack
Obama in 2016.
Bad sadly, on October 24, 2021, he passed away at the age of 96.

「Never give up」それは、鉄より硬いヒロシマの信念。坪井さんからわたした
ちへの「魂の叫び」です。
"Never give up."
It is the belief that is harder than steel. It is the "cry of the soul"

被爆者とその家族は、結婚や就職においても、「いつ差別されるか分からない」
という恐怖の中で生き抜いてきました。原爆がもたらした被爆者の苦しみはその
時だけでなく、その後の人生においても続いているのです。
Hibakusha and their families lived in fear of being discriminated
against, even in marriage and employment. The suffering of the Hibakusha
caused by the atomic bombing continued not only at the time of the
bombing, but also in their later lives.

坪井さんも妻の家族から結婚を反対され、自殺未遂を図った壮絶な経験を持って
います。
彼はその時妻と「なにがあっても生き延びようで」と誓いました。
Mr. Tsuboi, too, had a terrible experience when his wife's family
objected to their marriage and he and his wife attempted suicide.
At that time, they vowed to " survive no matter what happens ."

坪井さんは語られました。
「一瞬にして多くの命を奪う核兵器は、非人道の極み、絶対悪。核兵器は、この
世に一発でもあってはならない。」坪井さんは私たちに力強くこう語りました。
「命を大事にせよ。命ある限り生き抜け」。
He said, "Nuclear weapons, which took so many lives in an instant, are
the ultimate inhumanity and absolute evil."
There should not be even one nuclear weapon in this world."
He told us emphatically,
"Treasure your lives. Cherish life. Live as long as you can.

広島の被爆者・切明千枝子さん。彼女は15歳で被爆しました。
その後、学校にもどると下級生たちが、火傷により、皮膚が剥け、それをぶら下
げ、引きずりながら帰ってきたのです。
Now let us tell you about Ms. Chieko Kiriaki.
She was 15 years old when she was exposed to the atomic bomb.
Afterward, when she returned to school, her classmates came back. They
were burned from the thighs down, and their skin peeled off. They came
back dragging the skin with them.

切明さんは語ります。「手の指の先から昆布かワカメを泥水に浸したような真っ
黒いものがぶら下がってるの。一人、また一人。うめきながら泣きながら死んで
いったのよ。それはもう、地獄でございました」
She recounts, "From the tips of their fingers hung dark things that
looked like seaweed soaked in muddy water. One by one, they died
groaning and crying.
It was hell. it was pure hell."

彼女は、85歳になって証言を始めました。
彼女は語ります。「私は、過去を忘れたいと思ってきたの。でも、いま、黙って
いたら、再び戦争が起きる気がするの。だから、死んだ仲間のためにも、語るの
よ」
She started testifying her experience at the age of 85.
She told us,
" I have always wanted to forget the past. But now I feel that if I keep
silent, there will be another war. That is why I am telling my story,
for the sake of my friends who have died."

93歳になった今、こう語ります。
「『平和』はじっと待っていても来てはくれません。力を尽くして、引き寄せ、
つかみ取り、みんなで懸命に守らないと、逃げてしまいます。だから諦めないで
行動してほしい」
Now, at the age of 93, she says:
"Peace will not come if we sit around waiting for it. It will run away
unless we do our best to attract it, seize it, and work hard to protect
it together. So please don't give up and take action.

再び、ヒロシマやナガサキのような惨劇を繰り返してはなりません。「もう誰に
も自分と同じ思いをさせてはならない」という被爆者の素朴で崇高な思いを無駄
にしないためにも、今こそ、被爆者の方の声を全世界に発信しなければなりませ
ん。
We must not repeat the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Now is the time for us to send their voices to the whole world, so that
Hibakusha's desire that "No one should ever have to suffer as they have.
" will not be in vain.

私たちは、彼らの証言を英語に訳し、インターネット上で全世界に発信していま
す。
We translated their testimonies and now they are available on the
Internet.

ヒロシマに住む私たち、そして、被爆者の方から思いを受け取った私たちは、そ
れらを後世へと継承し、核廃絶の実現を諦めてはいけないのです。
We, who live in Hiroshima and have listened to their testimonies must
not give up on the realization of nuclear abolition.
We must convey the Hibakusha's thoughts to future generations.

私たちは、常にヒバクシャに学び、ヒバクシャと共にあります。
We have learned from the Hibakusha and their words will always remain
with us.

だから、坪井さんの信念や切明さんの想いを引き継ぎ、私たちはこう叫び続けま
す。
Therefore, taking over Mr. Tsuboi's cause, and Ms. Kiriake's opinions,
we will continue to cry out as follows.
